[ARCHIVED] No Parking on Ruxton Ave- February 25th

After much discussion and considerable planning, we are poised to move three cog rail cars from their home at the Cog Rail Station on Ruxton Avenue to their temporary storage home in Colorado Springs.  Each car is 60 feet long and weighs over 80,000 pounds so the logistics of the move is complex and requires coordination and planning.  As you know, Ruxton Avenue is narrow and curvy with low hanging utility lines so the maneuver to get to Manitou Avenue as the first part of the trip will be done by talented professionals.  The move is now scheduled for Monday, February 25.  Special equipment and tools had to be acquired and built to ensure that the cars are not damaged during the crane pick up to load on moving trucks.  Signs will be posted for no parking on Ruxton Avenue on February 25th.  We are asking that the road is kept as clear as possible to allow the 3 cars to descend without incident.  If all goes well, all work should be completed on Monday.
