Overview
The City of Manitou Springs received funding through History Colorado’s Certified Local Government grant program in 2020 to develop a comprehensive historic survey and inventory plan for the over 1,000 buildings in the local MSHD. This is the first preservation study in more than 10 years undertaken by the City. The Manitou Springs Historic District (MSHD) remains largely undocumented and in need of a comprehensive strategy for achieving full documentation and evaluation of properties for contributing status to the local district and for eligibility to the State and National Register of Historic Places.
