The City of Manitou Springs has initiated the design of the improvements to Manitou Avenue from Park Avenue to Serpentine Drive (also known as the MAPS project). Currently, the corridor is a two-lane roadway with a center turn lane and some parking. There are no bicycle or pedestrian facilities and substantial drainage issues. The goals of the project are to create innovative and sustainable solutions for the following issues:
- Bicycle and Pedestrian Activity
- Parking Options
- Lighting Scenarios
- Landscaping and Public Art
- Integration with Creek Walk
- Drainage
- Utilities
Currently, the project is moving forward with proposed alternatives based on feedback from the first public outreach event (April 18, 2019). The team is busy creating proposed alternatives for the corridor and plan to share them with the public this summer! As soon as a public event date is confirmed, it will be posted on the City’s website. Thank you to all who continue to be interested in the MAPS project!
You are still invited to provide input through the online interactive map and survey at
https://bhi.mysocialpinpoint.com/manitou-avenue-improvements.
You can ask questions or provide comments at any time via the project email (MAPS@BHINC.COM).
