Public Recreation Opening

Under the guidance of consultant Tapis Associates, Inc, the Cities of Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs, along with the Manitou Incline property owners (U.S. Forest Service, Manitou and Pikes Peak Railway Co, and Colorado Springs Utilities), have completed the public process exploring the feasibility of opening the Incline for public recreation. The results are documented in the Manitou Incline Site Development and Management Plan (PDF), which addresses all aspects of the Incline including historical background, site conditions, and a Timeline (PDF) outlining what needs to be done before the recreational area can be legally opened. Both City Councils have approved the Plan and both are proceeding with the completion of the critical tasks as identified in the Timeline.
